CLIENT: AARP Foundation (AARPF) >> “Mentor Up” Campaign
MISSION: AARP Foundation is AARP’s affiliated charity. It is one of the leading charitable organizations focused on helping low-income, vulnerable older people to meet their everyday needs: housing, food, personal connections and income. Mentor Up, a key strategic initiative of AAPRF, is all about young people helping older adults stay connected and adjust to the many challenges they face in today’s changing world.
WHY AARP APPROACHED TWO PARROT: AARPF needed to illustrate the magical spark that happens when young people become mentors to older adults with a series of videos and photos. Mentor Up is all about young people helping older adults stay connected and adjust to the many challenges they face in today’s changing world. Between health concerns, economic problems and seemingly daily advances in technology, this is not the world that many older adults—grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, even parents– thought they’d be living in at this point in their lives. The skills young people have–in particular technology skills–are skills the older generation wants to learn to get out, connect and avoid being left behind. To engage young people in the mission, the campaign needed rich media to visually showcase the spirited human interactions in a natural and authentic way.
